Terratech designed by Corona Del Mar, California based architecture studio Laidlaw Schultz Architects. Located withing an exhisting warehouse, Terratech’s new corporate headquarters strove to create a space that conveyed its sophisticated chemistry while still linking it to its earthen use. Terratech, a producer of a soil stabilization polymer used to create inexpensive roads throughout the world, sought an office space that was both natural and high-tech.
The intent was realized through the use of a natural palette balanced against walls of glass. To illustrate: the entry lobby combines the elements of polished marble and glass and contrasts these ‘slick’ materials against a natural wall of sandblasted wood striated lava.
This continual contrast of elements is seen throughout the space and effectively illustrates the nature of the company – creating a sense of warmth and sophistication.
Laidlaw Schultz Architects creates engaging and realizable design solutions that mutually support each project’s intended use and contribute to its surroundings.
